Position Description
North Mara Gold Mine Limited is seeking to recruit Boilermaker - Fixed Plant to join and grow their team. You will be expected to align to the Barrick DNA and to operate within our mining assets with our best people teams. You will contribute in a safe and cost-effective manner to achieve targets in accordance with Mine Safety Standards, Policies and Procedures and ensure daily targets are met. .

About North Mara
The North Mara gold mine is located in north-west Tanzania in the Tarime district of the Mara region. It is around 100 kilometres east of Lake Victoria and 20 kilometres south of the Kenyan border. North Mara started commercial production in 2002. The mine is a combined open pit and underground operation from two deposits, Gokona (underground) and Nyabirama (open pit).
Responsibilities
- Adhere to isolation and lock out permits’ procedures.
- Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations, and compliances.
- Performs high quality, planned and unplanned repairs of any mechanical fittings on pipes works
- With applicable codes, standards, safety, and environment regulation, maintaining a clean and environmentally safe work area, applying 5S principle.
- Attain and maintain relevant licenses and authorizations required to execute allocated duties e.g., Basic Rigging, Working at Heights, machine operation i.e., forklift, IT and Scissor Lift
- Fabricate and assemble metal structures and equipment with welders, cutters, shapers and measuring tools.
- Fabricate, weld, and install chutes, boxes, pipes, reducers, bends, and Y piece.
- Cutting and grooving the Paste fill Pipes to meet the Victaulic End-Seal (ES) grooving standards.
- Read and interpret diagrams, sketches, and blueprints to determine operations, required materials and timeframes for projects.
- Apply best fabrication practice on repair of chutes, steel tanks, pipes and steel structures.
- Apply standard paint on new steel structure and any repair on steel works.
- Assess welded surfaces, structures, and components to identify errors.
- Examine pressure vessels, tanks, chutes, pipes to locate defects such as leaks, weak spots, and
- defective sections so that they are repaired.
- Fabricate, fit, and assemble the structural components of various mechanical systems.
- Perform any task as instructed by report line supervisor.
- Perform basic mechanical fitting, rubber lining, scaffolding, and rigging works as instructed
- Clean equipment, using scrapers, wire brushes, and cleaning solvents to ensure equipment or work
- area remains clean and tidy.
- Clean, maintain, repair, and rebuild mechanical parts, components and equipment as directed by the Supervisor.
- Conduct regular plant and steel structures inspections, Complete breakdown, and preventive maintenance work orders on time, create subsequent notifications, and provide feedback on work performed
- Removes defective parts by dismantling devices, using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools.

- Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level.

- Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Responsible for shift handover at area of responsibility.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints

- Secondary Education and IMTT/VETA Trade

- Emergency Preparedness

- Transferring skills to trainee and Coaching Skills
- More than 5- Years’ Experience in Large scale underground Mining Construction/ Backfill/Operations.
- Strong Experience on Paste fill Reticulation installation and Maintenance
- Strong skills and installation Art of Underground piping loops and pipelines and surface to Underground Borehole connections.
- Strong Creative and skills in Fabrication and Metal works,
- Mult-skill operator, operating and handling various mining equipment’s
- Experience in dealing with Multicultural environment.
