Integrated Protection Team Leader – (One position)

HelpAge Tanzania wishes to recruit an Integrated Protection Team Leader position will be based in Kibondo District, Kigoma Region.

The Integrated Protection Team Leader is responsible for assisting the Head of Office/HPM in the coordination of PSN assistance and services at camp and host community levels. This entails building effective collaboration with a diversity of stakeholders, ranging from refugees, community representatives, humanitarian partners, host communities and local authorities. The Team Leader reports to the Head of Office/Humanitarian Programme Manager combined with maintaining lateral communication and coordination of activities and staff at field level, whilst also supervising the Field Management teams (FMT) operating in the two camps. The tenant will also act on behalf of the Head of Field Office during his/her absence and represent the organization in its partnerships with government and other stakeholders.

Person Specification

  • Bachelor’s degree in social studies, Conflict/Disaster Management, psychology, social work, physiotherapy or any other related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant working experience in protection-related sectors, preferably within an NGO.
  • Strong theoretical, and practical background in protection, inclusion and engagement.
  • Proven training skills and capacities in developing trainings’ curricula
  • Strong skills in networking with partners, donor liaison and government at all levels.
  • Able to gather and critically analyze data, gaps and trends related to Protection issues.
  • Strong report writing skills, including proposal development and case building.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage efficiently multiple priorities, deadlines, and tasks.

Job Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Integrated Protection Team Leader, S/he is responsible for overall clinical rehabilitation management of patients at the CBR centres for both adults and children with disabilities, coordinate the preparation of rehabilitation action plans, ensure delivery of home-based care to clients, coordinate assessments and delivery of mobility and assistive aids and ensuring the delivery of basic minimum standards are applied to PWDs and Older persons in humanitarian actions.

Work with the protection team to ensure that Persons with Specific Needs (PSNs) are prioritised in various sectors. The incumbent will also play a key role in building the capacity of Incentive workers and others on issues of rehabilitation, case management, physiotherapy and orthopedic while adhering to multidisciplinary approach in delivering services to PSNs within the refugee camps and surrounding host communities.

Person Specification
  • A Degree of Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy or Diploma in Physiotherapy and its Equivalent. At least 1 year experience of working or dealing with pediatric cases, adult cases or working in CBR programmes.
  • Excellent technical understanding of rehabilitation or Physiotherapy services.
  • Experience of working with Older People.
  • Able to coach, mentor and train staff to undertake CBR services.
  • Good Computer knowledge
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to prioritize tasks
  • Able to work to tight deadlines and under pressure
  • Able to operate in extremely harsh living and working environment
  • Able to communicate both in English and Swahili languages.

Driver cum General Maintenance Technician – (one position)

HelpAge Tanzania wishes to recruit a Driver cum General Maintenance Technician position will be based in Kibondo District, Kigoma Region.

Job purpose
To facilitate movements and maintenance of vehicles of HelpAge Tanzania’s humanitarian programme in Kigoma region and beyond. The incumbent works under the supervision of the Administrative Officer and the general supervision of Programme Manager. The Administrative Officer identifies trips/assignments. The incumbent has some flexibility for planning and scheduling routes. Manuals available for use are security instructions; directives/instructions; and Vehicles maintenance manuals.

  • Holder of at least a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination
  • Holder of at least a certificate in general vehicle maintenance from VETA or any recognised learning institution.
  • Holder of a certificate in driving from any recognised learning institution in Tanzania.
  • At least 3 years’ work experience as a driver and mechanical with good references.
  • Valid driving license
  • Mechanical knowledge and skills in operating and maintaining different types of vehicles.
  • Good knowledge of the topography of the country and full proficiency in local traffic regulations.
  • Proven ability to deal with clients with tact and respect for diversity.
  • Mature, respectful and honest person of high integrity who is able to work in a team and make meaningful contributions to the team objective.
  • Excellent driving skills and with experience with driving to remote locations on project field trip and driving off the road in difficult conditions
  • Mentally fit and preferable aged from 30 years
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations of the country and skills in vehicle repair
  • Flexible and able to adapt to abrupt changes at short notices
  • Able to read and write in Swahili and English language

  • Ability to write a concise and faithful report of accidents.
