AHN TANZANIA is seeking to fill the position of Biomedical Engineer (“BME”).
The successful candidate will assist the clinical team in solving technical problems related to dialysis and the field of dialysis across our dialysis centres in Dodoma Region, Tanzania. This individual will be primarily working in a clinical setting, with a strong focus on setting up dialysis-related equipment, including Dialysis Machines, Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems, and maintaining this equipment
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot problems with RO systems, dialysis machines, and other medical equipment used by the clinical team.
- Develop in depth knowledge in the field of dialysis, particularly the various machines and components needed to build and maintain a dialysis machine.
- Understand the various Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) around Nipro, Fresenius and Baxter/Gambro dialysis machines including the differences between manufacturers.
- Work closely with other medical professionals, such as doctors and nurses as well as with end-users (patients and their attendants)
- Training technical or clinical staff on equipment operation and maintenance.
- Maintaining the equipment to the best of its performance by organizing a planned maintenance program for all equipment’s and attending to emergency breakdowns and repairs.
- Ensure that any routine activities required within the centers are performed as required e.g. loop disinfection
- Review the clinical reports from allocated centers to ensure that all BME issues are addressed
- Responding to issues reported on the ground per the TAT guidelines
Key requirements for the role are as follows:
- BSc in electronics engineering/ electrical engineering/ biomedical engineering from a recognized university
- Must be registered by the Engineering Registration Board of Tanzania
- 3-5 years of experience in Healthcare Industry
- Familiarity with the health and safety/ quality standards High levels of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Effective verbal and written communication skills (English is a requirement)

AHN TANZANIA is seeking two (2) highly-motivated individuals to fill the positions of Nutritionists in the Coastal & Northern Regions. The Nutritionists will be responsible for counselling patients on dialysis on diet and nutrition as per their needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with both outpatients and inpatients and outreach activities as needed
- Advise/counsel all patients both adults and children on setting specific nutrition goals Evaluate patient lifestyle, nutritional, and health needs
- Develop a thorough and cost-efficient and practical guidelines and customized diet plan to meet nutrition goals
- Work closely with all medical team and healthcare professionals
- Attend ward rounds with medical staff
- Closely monitor patients progress and adjust diet plan as needed Document patient progress and share with healthcare professionals
- Provide patients with educational facts on nutrition to improve their health
- Work with families, couples, and individuals to help them make desired dietary changes to their lifestyles
- Organize basic training in renal dietetics for nurses working in dialysis units

- Work in other AHNC supported centers as assigned and scheduled
- Present facts about diet and nutrition to hospital staff and during any community events and speaking engagements Participate in regular of updating of food composition tables and portion size data base
- Translate nutrition science into understandable, practical eating advice
- Participate in the compilation and development of Information, education and communication (IEC) materials
- Participate in the development of Nutrition/dietetics training modules of renal diseases and NCDs for health care professionals and nutritionists working in hospitals
