Data Officer

Job Summary:
Data Officer role involves ensuring accurate and reliable data management within a program. This includes tasks such as report preparation and verification, precise data entry, data verification, data accuracy improvement, collaborating with supervisors on reporting, training new staff, maintaining data security, leading data collection teams, and supporting tool development.

Data Officer Responsibilities:
  • Data Preparation: Prepared and verified reports for programme indicators on multiple periods (weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.), assuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Data Entry and Accuracy: Oversee and manage timely and correct data entry from paper-based sources into electronic databases. Also, perform comprehensive comparisons between submitted data and source documents to ensure data accuracy and immediately correct any errors identified. This is done on a daily basis.
  • Verification and Tracking: Conduct thorough verification processes to ensure the consistency and integrity of data.
  • Data Quality and Cleaning: Be proactive in the production of queries and the implementation of data cleaning actions to improve data accuracy and reliability from CTC2DATABASE, UCS, and DHIS2-Tracker.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Collaborate with supervisors and other stakeholders to create monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Training and Mentoring: Assist with the training and mentoring of new PE/PM and other staff members on data reporting techniques such as referral procedures, reporting protocols, and database utilization. ORA JICHEKI, Tracker, ODK, UCS, and other internal and external systems are examples of systems.
  • Data Security and Confidentiality: Maintain the security of data tools and databases, maintain the confidentiality of records and sensitive information at all times, and assuring the consistency and integrity of data by completing extensive verification processes.
  • Leadership and Supervision: Lead data collection teams by providing direction, support, and mentorship to junior team members. Collaborate with supervisors to address issues, establish best practices, and optimize data-related procedures.
  • Support the updating and development of project data collection tools and assure their availability and communicating verbally and in writing to supervisor’s suggestions for improving data entry or data flow.

Required Qualifications and Competencies
  • Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Health Information Systems or its equivalent.
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (STATA, Advanced Excel, SPSS, SAS, R, POWERBI, POWER QUERY etc.)
  • At least three (3) years’ relevant experience in health information management and managing databases.
  • Experience in use of Health aggregate Database (MOH DHIS2, INFOLINK, DATIM) and POWERBI dashboard.
  • Experience all client Level Databases
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Ability to deliver with short notice.
  • Self-Directed
  • Ability to Multitask
